during my internship in sandakan (circa may which was six months ago =.=), hommie brought us out for a nature-lurving trip together with some other colleagues one fine day (labour day). we beamed and hopped around da house when she told us da night before. we so wanted to visit our ancestors as it’s one of da must-visit tourist spot in sandakan. and we need someone to bring us there cos we were practically immobilized without chauffeur :P

OrangUtan@Sepilok (5)[4]

upon reaching sepilok, there’s a roundabout with an orangutan directing u da way…

i tell u ar, roundabouts are all over sabah. and every roundabout is beautifully decorated one like this one *points up*

and after 1.5h, we reached da destination. yala, we were staying that out of town…

OrangUtan@Sepilok (33)

Agnes Keith’s House, Sandakan

Category : Intern's Life, Point & Shoot, Walk & Run

i have finally handed in my report! i think i deserve some blogging moment before cooping myself up with presentation slides. cross your fingers for my presentation this saturday ya x(“,)x

Agnes Keith's House 013

so, we visited this house one fine sunday noon circa may 2009.

Agnes Keith's House

source

Situated on a hill at Jalan Istana overlooking Sandakan Bay, it was the home of Conservator of Forests, Harry Keith and his American wife, Agnes Keith, a writer, from the 1930s until 1942. Agnes’ book on life in pre-war Sandakan popularised the old seafarer’s name for Sabah in its title, “Land Below the Wind” (referring to Sabah’s location just below the typhoon belt). Her second book, Three Came home, about their war experiences was made into a movie. Their two-storied wooden bungalow, built on a ridge overlooking the town, was destroyed during WW2 but reconstructed when the Keiths returned in 1946. (source: Sabah Tourism Board)

Agnes Keith's House - ticket

paid 2buck to gain admission

at da entrance i was greeted by
