Good Taste Bah Kut Teh, Sandakan

Category : Nom & Gulp, Point & Shoot, Walk & Run

annant whispers: i drafted this post while i was still in sandakan, it somehow slipped my mind (stupid absent-minded) so now im letting it surface again :D

it was an (then) usual outing-cum-grocery shopping sunday with sitao and friend. (sitao always brings a companion cos we have generation gap so that he has someone to speak to. it is a 1.5hours journey to town, remember? so far, we met three, mr c, mr m, and mr o)

Good Taste Bah Kut Teh - signboard

had bah kut teh as brunch.

da very first day i touched down here (i mean sandakan), was a saturday, so sitao thought of bringing us out for brekkie da next day before picking up kiki from airport, he told us,

get prepared by 10.30am so that we can have brekkie

by da time we reached town, it was 12pm =.= we were famished like hungry ghosts. da next sundays, we were smarter to have light brekkie at home first.

Good Taste Bah Kut Teh 001

you can see Puh Jit Shih Temple from here. as lurvely and breathtaking as before.

we ordered,

pai guat (排骨/pork rib)

zhu yuk yun (猪肉丸/meat balls)

sam chang yuk babi yang ada lemak (三层肉/three layer fatty pork)

babi kurus (瘦肉/lean pork)

zhu zak (猪杂/intestines)

har (虾/prawns)

and bo lei shang choi (玻璃生菜/veggie)

*tick-tock tick-tock*

10 mins later, we were served (in no particular order)

Good Taste Bah Kut Teh - pork rib

a bowl of pai guat (me <3)

Good Taste Bah Kut Teh - meatball

a bowl of meetballs

Good Taste Bah Kut Teh - lean meat

a bowl of lean pork

Good Taste Bah Kut Teh - san chang yuk

a bowl of babi yang ada lemak

a bowl of zhu zak (no pic cos innards are disgusting)

Good Taste Bah Kut Teh - prawn

a bowl of prawns (very fresh!)

and a plate of fried veggie u thought…

wrong!

Good Taste Bah Kut Teh - veggie

they served us a bowl of veggie =.=

my eyes almost popped out and my jaw almost fell on da table…

sitao said that they serve fish too, in bah kut teh soup of course! it’s sabah style to serve u bowl by bowl. or is this only happen in sandakan?

Good Taste Bah Kut Teh - aftermath

aftermath: leftover soupsss.

verdict: soup is too hot and spicy to our liking

hot and spicy due to excessive of pepper :(

u know what i found,

peninsular’s bah kut teh: herbalish

sarawak’s: sweetish

sabah’s: pepperish =.=

A tour operator brought my sis and I to this place for bak kut teh when I was in Sandakan in April. That temple is the one that offers the view of the Sandakan harbour isn't? I visited the same place too just to view the harbour.

yaya…that's da temple! breathtaking view right!

I saw a number of shops near the hotel where I was staying in Sandakan – all claim to be Klang bak kut teh but I did not have the chance to try. Sibu got one place peppery, another place sweet…and another one herbal – I think the people from West Malaysia. I seldom go to eat bak kut teh…just once in a while.

I like the spicy one. Haha :D

i likey herbalish one xD
i only have bah kut teh once in awhile too, as it's a 'heaty' food…
there's one newly opened self-claimed klang bah kut teh, my foot lo! not nice at all one :@

my mum own recipe of bak kut teh is more best then all bak kut the in the world……….
if you try ha……..
you will eat the whole thing with the container.

I love KK (Sabah) style BKT – they have mini dishes instead of a big pot so you can order what you want. I went to this popular one in KK. I forgot what it's called…but I've never seen prawn BKT before. Looks good!

*wave* hihi
i saw some selling crocodile meat bkt in kk le…didnt try it out though :(
thanks for dropping by ;)

Wow! it's been like ages since I last ate any of these yummy bak kut teh! Hahaha :D I love to eat it but my wife says they are not healthy….that's why I can't eat. LOL ;p

not healthy? why? too heaty izzit ?

I don't know. Maybe it's…unhealthy lor. Fatty and some add MSG! LOL :p

Yummy. Sandakan bak kut teh looks tasty….all wiped clean :P.

i wipe your drools for u :p

the name of the shop says it all. it looks wonderful the bak kut teh

sorry man, u cant have it here in sarawak :p

My online store is opening…Check out the new promotion ya! pls clik http://www.cityofjewelry.blogspot.com ~thanks!

I prefer to eat bak kut teh at Alam Megah near the MPSJ cuz the soup is more nice lo…… Althought is just a stall :-D
